We offer connection cables, compensation cables, copper cables, thermocouple wires, thermocouple cables and extension cables.
Glass fibre cables are highly temperature-resistant and can withstand very high temperatures (up to 400 °C). This is the biggest advantage of glass fibre cables over other cable insulation materials such as PVC, silicone or PFA.
On request, we can offer numerous other cables, including in larger quantities.
Please feel free to contact us by telephone, we will be happy to advise you!
Compensation cables consist of so-called substitute materials, which have a different chemical composition than the materials of the corresponding thermocouple. The substitute materials have the same thermoelectric properties as the corresponding thermocouple within the permissible application temperature range for compensation cables. A thermocouple cable consists of the same metals as the thermocouple itself. Compensation cables are often less expensive than thermocouple cables.
At B+B, you will find various gas probes that differ from one another in terms of their operating principle and thus their area of application. B+B Thermo-Technik GmbH's product range basically includes flue gas probes, a multi-hole probe and exhaust gas probes.
Yes, customised designs are available on request. Please note that due to the planning and implementation costs involved, we can only produce customised designs for orders with a minimum value of €500.00.
Exhaust gas probes are used for monitoring and control in heating technology, buildings, industrial plants, combustion plants, vehicles and large vehicles such as tanks to monitor emissions and ensure efficiency and safety. They help to monitor compliance with environmental regulations and increase safety by controlling exhaust gases.
B+B offers probes with a heated pistol grip. This heating reduces condensation. The handle also has a soot filter holder. B+B also sells probes for combustion plants (1. BImSchV), multi-hole probes and special probes for exhaust gas measurements on large vehicles, e.g. lorries, buses and tanks.
The Firebird TGD flue gas probe has a screw-off coaxial probe tube, separate gas/pressure paths, a stainless steel protective tube and a moulded handle. The Eco TGD flue gas probe also has a moulded handle and impresses with its fast response time. In addition, a slotted hole is visible on the measuring tip. The Sigma flue gas probe, on the other hand, differs in particular in its heated handle, optional screw-off probe tube and R6 soot filter holder.

Air quality measurements primarily record pollutants such as particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as well as climatic parameters such as temperature, humidity and CO₂ concentration, in order to assess both outdoor and indoor air quality.
When installing the duct sensor, the sensor tube should point downwards to prevent measurement errors due to the self-heating of the electronics. It should be noted at this point that the sensor has a certain degree of pressure resistance at the head, but is not suitable for use with compressed air at higher pressures. If the sensor is to be used outdoors, a weatherproof housing is recommended. The operating instructions for our duct sensor also include a drilling template for installation.

Relative pressure measures pressure in relation to the current ambient air pressure and is often used in applications where fluctuations in atmospheric pressure play a role. Absolute pressure, on the other hand, refers to a perfect vacuum as a reference point and measures the total pressure regardless of the ambient pressure. This type of measurement is particularly useful in applications where the actual pressure must be determined without external influences. While relative pressure sensors measure the pressure difference to the environment, absolute pressure sensors measure the total pressure relative to absolute zero.

A PIR motion detector reacts to the heat radiation emitted by moving bodies. It offers adjustable ranges of up to 12 metres (depending on the product).
Our brightness sensors have an accuracy of <±10% (with vertical light incidence).
The dimensions of the brightness sensor are as follows: (LxWxH) 65 x 59 x 50 mm.
Our brightness sensors are housed in a high-quality plastic casing with IP protection class IP 65.
Passive infrared sensors (PIR) detect heat radiation emitted by moving objects within their detection range by sensing changes in the infrared spectrum. Radar sensors, on the other hand, emit electromagnetic waves and detect the reflection of these waves from objects to detect movement. Radar sensors are often better at detecting movements that are directly approaching the sensor than PIR sensors.
Yes, radar motion detectors use microwaves, usually in the 5.8 GHz or 24 GHz frequency range.
Radar motion detectors used in households, security technology or lighting are fundamentally safe. The emitted power is very low (often less than 1 mW) and is well below the limits for radiation that is harmful to health.

Mineral insulated thermocouples are temperature sensors in which two different thermowires are embedded in a metal sheath. The wires are electrically insulated by compacted magnesium oxide and connected to each other at the measuring tip. Thanks to their robust, flexible design, mineral insulated thermocouples are bendable, vibration-resistant and suitable for high temperatures. The measuring principle of thermocouples is based on the Seebeck effect, in which a temperature-dependent thermoelectric voltage is generated at the junction of two different metals. This voltage is measured and converted into the corresponding temperature.

NTC temperature sensors (negative temperature coefficient) are resistors whose electrical resistance decreases significantly as the temperature rises. They are usually made of semiconductor materials such as metal oxides, are widely used and inexpensive. Typical NTCs have, for example, 10 kΩ at 25 °C and are described by the B value (characteristic number for the steepness of the characteristic curve). One disadvantage is their limited interchangeability; when selecting an NTC, not only the nominal resistance but also the B value must be taken into account.
We offer digital temperature sensors, glass or ceramic wire-wound and thin-film platinum temperature sensors, various NTC sensors and special sensors, for example for measuring surface temperature or combined digital temperature and humidity sensors.
Digital temperature sensors enable precise real-time measurements, automated controls and reliable warning systems in Industry 4.0, medical technology, smart homes and environmental monitoring – for greater efficiency, safety and comfort.

Two-point controllers operate with two states: on and off. Three-point controllers add a neutral intermediate state. In contrast, continuous controllers, which are designed to reach and maintain the setpoint quickly and accurately, operate with less overshoot. The basic types of continuous controllers are P, I and D controllers. The P controller quickly brings the actual value closer to the setpoint, but has a permanent control deviation that can be compensated for by combining it with an I controller. The I controller integrates the control deviation over time to compensate for it, but is slow. A PI controller combines these characteristics, but responds slowly to sudden changes. This is where the D controller comes in, quickly correcting even small deviations. Since a pure D controller does not recognise a constant deviation, it is combined with P or PI controllers to improve response time. A PID controller combines all three algorithms to respond quickly to both large and small control deviations and eliminate permanent deviations.

B+B offers a comprehensive range of accessories for the connectors it supplies. From suitable strain reliefs to panel inserts, everything you need for assembling and installing connectors can be found under Connector Accessories. Crimping pliers are required to assemble the crimp sleeves as strain relief. B+B Thermo-Technik also offers matching compensation and thermal cables with different insulation materials for (ambient) temperatures up to 400 °C.
Thermocouple connectors are special electrical connectors that are used to connect thermocouples securely, precisely and without measurement errors to measuring devices, controllers or extension cables. The key difference to normal connectors is that the plug contacts are made of the same metal alloys as the respective thermocouple itself (e.g. type K: chromel/alumel) so that no additional thermoelectric voltage is generated at the plug connection, which would distort the measurement result. Thermocouple connectors are internationally standardised. The two most common standards are DIN EN60584 and ANSI. These standards specify the dimensions and alloys of the contact elements as well as colour coding, depending on the thermocouple type. There are two different designs: standard and miniature connectors. The standard design is robust and suitable for use in industrial plants. The miniature design is more compact and is more suitable for laboratory and test measurement applications.
Our thermocouple connectors can basically be divided into miniature connectors and standard connectors. There are also various couplings that are compatible with miniature or standard plugs.
Temperature indicators and controllers are used in a wide range of applications, often in control panels, to monitor and control temperature.
Temperature controllers measure the temperature using sensors and use the signal to control various actuators, such as heating or cooling elements. They can control different devices or processes depending on the application. These controllers often use PID (proportional-integral-derivative) algorithms to improve control accuracy, with each part of the algorithm playing a specific role in stabilisation and adjustment. By combining these components, temperature controllers enable precise control.

In contrast, continuous controllers, which are designed to reach and maintain the setpoint quickly and accurately, operate with less overshoot. Since a pure D controller does not recognise a constant deviation, it is combined with P or PI controllers to improve response time. A PID controller combines all three algorithms to respond quickly to both large and small control deviations and eliminate permanent deviations.

A temperature transmitter is a transducer that processes the signal from a temperature sensor (e.g. thermocouple or resistance thermometer such as Pt100) and converts it into a standardised output signal – usually 4...20 mA or 0...10 V – so that it can be transmitted to a control unit, display or control system over long distances without interference.
Temperature transmitters are used in a wide range of applications, including: Industry: Monitoring and control of processes in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical and automotive industries. Building services engineering: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for regulating room temperature. Energy: Monitoring temperatures in power stations, solar power plants and wind turbines. Research and development: Precise temperature measurements in laboratories and test facilities.
Transmitters offer the following advantages: Sensor signals are sensitive: a thermocouple delivers only a few millivolts; a Pt100 changes its resistance only slightly with temperature. Over longer cable lengths, these signals would easily be distorted. Coupling to a transmitter eliminates these disadvantages.
Standardisation: Industrial measuring and control devices are often designed for standard signals (4–20 mA is common worldwide).
Interference immunity: Current signals are less susceptible to electromagnetic interference and voltage losses than raw signals.

A PIR motion detector reacts to the heat radiation emitted by moving bodies. It offers adjustable ranges of up to 12 metres (depending on the product).

A platinum temperature sensor (e.g. Pt100 or Pt1000) is a resistance thermometer whose electrical resistance changes very precisely and reproducibly with temperature. Since platinum has an almost linear temperature coefficient and is chemically very stable, it is ideal for accurate and long-term stable measurements.
We offer digital temperature sensors, glass or ceramic wire-wound and thin-film platinum temperature sensors, various NTC sensors and special sensors, for example for measuring surface temperature or combined digital temperature and humidity sensors.
Platinum resistance thermometers can have different properties depending on their design, which is why different designs have been developed for different applications. Ceramic wire-wound platinum resistance thermometers consist of a fine platinum wire wound onto a ceramic substrate; they offer very high long-term stability and accuracy, but are more sensitive to vibrations. Thin-film PT100s consist of a thin platinum layer applied to a ceramic substrate and sealed with glass or ceramic; they are compact, robust and inexpensive. Glass PT100s use a platinum wire fused into glass, making them hermetically sealed, highly resistant to chemicals and particularly suitable for extreme environments. Overall, they differ mainly in terms of stability, robustness, size and cost.
The nominal resistance for temperature sensors is the resistance value that the sensor has at a specified reference temperature. For platinum resistance thermometers (e.g. Pt100 with 100 Ω or Pt1000 with 1000 Ω at 0 °C), 0 °C is always used as the reference, while for NTC sensors, the nominal resistance is usually specified at 25 °C (e.g. 10 kΩ NTC). The nominal resistance thus serves as a unique identifier for the sensor type and as a starting point for converting resistance into temperature.
Platinum temperature sensors are designated according to DIN EN 60751 with accuracy classes F 0.1 / F 0.15 / F 0.3, etc. F 0.15 corresponds to the former class A (±(0.15 + 0.002·|t|) °C), F 0.3 to class B (±(0.30 + 0.005·|t|) °C). F 0.1 stands for particularly high accuracy and corresponds approximately to the former 1/3 DIN B. For the end user, these classes indicate how precisely the sensor measures the actual temperature. The formulas can be used to determine the maximum deviation from the actual temperature.

The B+B pipe contact sensors are equipped with an aluminium prism housing for optimum contact with the surface. The enclosed tension chain with spring makes it possible to use a single sensor for a wide range of pipe diameters.
A pipe contact sensor measures the surface temperature on curved or bent surfaces such as pipes or conduits. Due to its special shape, it measures the surface temperature more accurately than a conventional temperature sensor.
We offer various materials, but our standard material is INCONEL 600.
At B+B, you will find sheathed thermocouples with free ends, miniature plugs, standard plugs, Lemo couplings and silicone cables. Customised designs are available at any time.

The measuring spot (also known as spot size) on infrared measuring devices – such as infrared thermometers or thermal imaging cameras – describes the actual area whose temperature the device measures at a specific distance.
A wide range of accessories is available for our products, including air blowers, mounting accessories and attachment lenses.
Thermal imaging cameras are specialised infrared cameras that convert this radiation into a colour-coded image to visually represent temperature differences. Thermal imaging cameras work by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by surfaces, which every body above absolute zero emits. A detector converts this radiation into electrical signals, which are then translated by the camera electronics into a colour-coded image that makes temperature differences visible. This allows you to see at a glance which areas are warmer or colder without having to make direct contact.
Infrared cameras are used, for example, in building thermography or to detect defective cable connections. They are also used by fire brigades to search for embers, in industry to test electrical systems, and in human medicine to detect areas of inflammation.
An infrared temperature measuring device measures the infrared radiation emitted by an object, which is related to its surface temperature. A detector in the device converts this radiation into an electrical signal that calculates the temperature. This allows the temperature to be determined quickly and without contact, even for very hot, moving or difficult-to-access objects.
The digital temperature measurement systems from B+B Thermo-Technik are pre-calibrated, ready to use (plug & play) and designed for direct connection to PC systems. Thanks to open communication protocols, they can also be integrated into complex measurement automation processes. The LabView® or ProfiLab software is used for this purpose. The general basic evaluation software for Windows® computers is Recorder. This is included in the scope of delivery. PCLOG is a more convenient logger software with a graphical user interface for real-time visualisation of measurement results, which is available on request for a fee.
B+B offers various interface options, including RS232, USB, RS485 and Sub-D, for flexible connection options. Some data loggers are also equipped with WiFi.
A sheath resistance thermometer has a temperature sensor (e.g. Pt100 or Pt1000) embedded in a compacted, mineral-insulated sheath cable – similar to a sheath thermocouple. This makes these sensors robust, vibration-resistant, partially bendable and well suited for use in harsh industrial environments.
